In this podcast we pick up the ball where it was dropped last week with lots of listener feedback, how a frenchman might win the tour, not sandbagging, and last but not least,something very dear to both Johns, how to wrap handlebar tape. While we agree to disagree on one of the finer points, we do agree that it needs to be paid attention to and is the finishing touch to a bike build.

These photos illustrate the end conditions of bar tape. The bar tape is cut at a bias to have a crisp edge at the ends of the bar, bottom where you start the tape & at the top near the bulge of the bar. This makes for a clean, consistent thickness of bar tape, no bulges.

This is part one of a two part podcast. There is too much to cram into one podcast, so this one will be international talk where the main topic is il Giro, local- John misses the page twice in MTB race and John collects personal best data at Godzulla and last but not least an extensive interview with Astana rider Chris Horner. Like a good dog, the podcast comes home after 2 weeks away. We talk about some International stuff, local racing, and go through 14 emails which include various and sundry topics like: a Special Relationship with our British cycling brethren, a lonely Ohio bike racer looking for his cycling soulmate, roller derby-style blocking in a Georgia bike race, the symptoms of over training, how to find citizen bike races, brake routing solutions for cx bikes, the www.dicklanevelodrome.com in Atlanta, buying used vs. new bikes, data for our study, don’t let levi ride.com and rumors about Johan, license plates, why or why not race - a list, selecting a nanny, shaving, and numb feet. Both Johns are a little cranky, tired, and sick. That makes for great podcast.

If a podcast were a car, this one might be the Citroen - long, sleek, quirky and probably with a dodgy sound system. In this podcast there is Euro season kickoff, ASO v. UCI, VBD faces setback. John begins racing with the old guys, Bobby Julich Part II: This time it is about tech & Osymmetrics. Listener feedback: Among other things Gotham Gunner wears two pairs of shorts and good bike value. Harry Havnoonian talks classic Alan frames and we talk on the bike nutrition with Dr. Steve. mic.gif3 interviews x (international+local)+ Listener Feedack x (technology/johns powertap) = longest podcast ever.Lots of other voices populate this edition of the podcast, Tour of Langkawi, Bobby Julich interview (in full), and Mike House tells us road the road he hoed moving up the ranks of competetive cycling. The rest is filled with Schabobele/Mentor Eve race preparations, listener feedback: should I stay, or should I go pro? Over/Under?? dreaded saddle sores, save my soul!

10 emails keep us occupied for well over an hour.Tim wants to know if he should be a sandbagger, Andy Zipp’s us an email, Brett wonders if there is a connection between obscurity and quality, Jim is an American and wants us to speak like one too, type A Chip picks up cycling, it’s all in the details for Tim, Kip J. needs music advice for hosting a rave in Michigan, shimanodog asks us to please not refer anymore bike racers to work at bike shops, Moab man drops some serious lbs. and stretches his chain, another John (not Jon, Jonathon, Johnathon) needs wheels.
